Volunteers will help move furniture into new apartments for individuals transitioning out of homelessness—an important and powerful milestone. This opportunity involves teamwork and some heavy lifting, but the impact goes far beyond the physical work. Your time and effort help transform an empty apartment into a safe, welcoming home, offering stability, dignity, and a fresh start at a pivotal moment in someone’s life.

Where:

Volunteers will meet the Churches United staff at Furniture Mission "2600 3rd Ave N, Fargo, ND 58102"

Volunteers will then follow the Churches United trailer to the apartment after loading up.

What:

Volunteers help with loading our trailer up with furniture.

Volunteers will meet at the apartment and help unload all furniture into the apartment.

Additional Details:

Volunteers will not haul any items in their personal vehicle. Churches United will haul all furniture.Apartment locations vary by date; the volunteer coordinator will confirm the location 48 hours in advance. All move-ins take place in the Fargo/Moorhead area.Volunteer should be comfortable lifting and navigating stairs as part of the move in process.This role requires the ability to lift moderately heavy items.Volunteers must be physically capable of carrying items up and down stairs if there is no elevator available.

We are seeking a friendly and dependable volunteer to assist at our food pantry location once per week. This role plays an important part in helping pantry shoppers move smoothly through the check-in process.

Volunteers in this role will greet shoppers as they arrive, assist with check-in, and help guide shoppers through the lobby as space becomes available. Responsibilities may include creating new shopper accounts, providing a brief orientation for first-time visitors, checking in returning shoppers, and help prevent over crowding of shoppers in the pantry area and the lobby.

This opportunity is a great fit for someone who enjoys interacting with people, offering hospitality, and supporting an efficient and welcoming pantry experience. No heavy lifting is required, and training will be provided.

Your support helps ensure that shoppers are welcomed, informed, and able to move through the pantry with ease.

This role includes basic computer use for account creation and check-in; no advanced computer skills are required, and training will be provided.
